This sexist review of Wonder Woman has people rolling their eyes hard
WONDER WOMAN HIT cinemas this weekend and is already projected to make over $98 million in the United States alone.
The film, which boasts an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, stars Gal Gadot as the iconic superhero. It is the first superhero blockbuster to be directed by a woman and, if there’s any justice, it ought to pave the way for more female-led blockbusters going forward.
But while Wonder Woman is poised to break all sorts of barriers, there are some people who still can’t see her as anything beyond someone to be ogled and objectified.
Enter David Edelstein, a film critic with Vulture.
Edelstein published his review of Wonder Woman yesterday and let’s just say it’s a lot to handle. Here are some choice quotes:
We get it. You fancy her.
Oh?
Ah here, leave it out.
The review has since been widely mocked and criticised for focusing so intensely on Gadot’s appearance.

The commenters revolted.
And Jezebel even published a parody of the review yesterday.

Neither Edelstein nor Vulture have commented on the backlash. We think we’ll just listen to these reviews instead…
